The 4-Ply construction allows for both the inner and outer layers of the mask to be black making it the most uniformly black mask on the market. The North Shield brand was developed by Smith Safety Group through our learnings in the safety and PPE space with the goal of making a stylish high quality product that offered consumers the highest level of protection, was made in Canada, and was affordable. ***Please note, the mask may appear blotchy on the side that touches your face. There is nothing wrong with the mask it is just due to how the mask  is constructed. The order of the layers from outside to inside is black, black, white filter, black. The outside appears more uniform as there are two black layers together. The inside (the side that touches your face) is less uniform as you can see the white filter layer through the black layer. The black layers are made of non woven polypropylene which makes the material look less uniform on the inside of the mask when against the white filter layer due to the random arrangement of the fibres.
